How long does it take to earn an IT certification?

The time it takes to complete a task is often correlated with the time it takes. This is especially true for something subjective like exam preparation. Although we don’t necessarily believe that Parkinson’s law is the best way to prepare for exams, it’s just how time works. You have a month to study for the exam. That’s how long you have, regardless of whether you’re ready.
It is important to allow yourself enough time to succeed, but not too much time to overthink, burnout, or get bored. We have helped thousands of IT professionals prepare to obtain their IT certifications. Sometimes, we even help them to create study plans. It takes about three months to complete each exam. There is a Goldilocks Zone where you can study. It’s easy to multiply the study time required for most certifications, which requires passing multiple exams.
Here’s what it takes to get CompTIA, Cisco, VMware, AWS and Microsoft certifications.
Certs that take less than three months are most common
Even if you have some experience, it can be difficult to prepare for an IT exam. Most entry-level certifications are not possible for new or aspiring IT professionals without hands-on experience. This is why foundational exams are available. These exams are for people with no to six months experience in the field. They are usually achievable with less than 12 weeks of study.
